Long Title Manifest Destiny and the Westward Expansion of the United States
Description Manifest Destiny - the belief in the 1800s that the United States was destined to stretch from coast to coast. This attitude helped fuel western settlement, Native American removal and war with Mexico. This session will explore the political, economic, geographic and social impact of this movement. We will also examine how STAAR accessed this content and strategies that can be used to teach the TEKS relevant to this time period.
