Long Title Hatton W. Sumners Institute on the Founding Documents
Description This FREE five-day, 40-hour institute is a favorite of secondary history teachers. The agenda is divided into time spent with scholars, followed by breakout sessions featuring strategies on teaching the TEKS. Topics include: the Declaration of Independence, the influence of historical documents on the development of the U.S. Constitution, American documents before the creation of the Constitution, the Constitutional Convention, the Federalist debates and Amendments 1-27.

Message This is a five day Institute so please plan to attend all five days. Special choice sessions will be offered to allow participants to select topics most applicable to their grade level. Each participant will receive a flash drive at the end of the week with all program materials and resources.
