Short Title Map Skills
Long Title Hands-On Mapping Skills: Improving Student Engagement in Social Studies
Description Do your students lack knowledge of the world around them? Just coloring and labeling maps does not seem to be increasing our students' mapping skills and global awareness nor enhancing their spatial thinking. This session will allow you to experience engaging, TEKS based, student-centered strategies that will help give your students the skills they need to read and comprehend maps and how map/geography skills can be incorporated into your lessons.
